During apartheid, many church leaders stood firm against the regime. Bishop Desmond Tutu received a nobel prize for his work. But there were many others who defied the stance of their own churches who supported apartheid to stand with the people, like rev. Beyers Naude, placed under house arrest for years, dr. Nico Smith, giving up his university post to serve in a township as minister, dr Wolfram Kistner, Lutheran theologian and historian to name a few.
Thank you. Sadly, when it comes to the Palestinians there are individuals who stand up but the Churches as organisations are behaving in a cowardly way.
